Vivid LIVE
Concept to execution
Visual Design | Concept Development
Vivid LIVE is a one-of-a-kind contemporary music & culture event that consistently defies expectation and breaks new ground. A unique and creative experience, embedded in all touch points within the House.
We saw a strategic opportunity to tap progressive trends in music, culture and technology. We used them to reinterpret the Opera House to create moments that connect and inspire. We identified four territories to explore.
TERRITORY #1 ANALOGUE APPROPRIATION / LO-FI IRONY
Counterculture irony, Culture jamming
TERRITORY #3 OP-ART / STEREOGRAMS
Sound waves frequency patterns, binary patterns
Exploration
TERRITORY #2 ANALOGUE DISTORTION
VHS jitter, data moshing, pixel/ dot matrix
TERRITORY #4 RETRO VISUAL REALITY
We wanted the look and feel to be glitchy. Like a visual pirate radio takeover of the Sydney Opera House. The "remembered" visuals of a VHS tape being recorded over again and again.
It connects the now with the overdubbed and intersecting memories of the past. We explored the use of glitch noise and the visual trickery of data moshing used in videos for Chairlift where the glitch becomes part of the art.
